Water Intake

The process begins with the water intake. Most ice makers are connected to a water supply line, either directly in the case of built - in models or through a water reservoir in portable units. For built - in ice makers in homes or commercial establishments, a solenoid valve controls the flow of water. When the ice maker's control system signals that water is needed (usually when the water level in the reservoir or the ice - making chamber is low), the solenoid valve opens, allowing water to enter the ice maker.
